4 months of swollen tonsils after strep — anyone else experienced this?

Had a strong strep infection in early July. Took antibiotics, fever and white patches disappeared fast. No pain since.

Saw an ENT in September — he said my tonsils weren’t inflamed or infected, just swollen/hypertrophic from the immune response (reactive lymphoid hyperplasia), and that they could take “weeks to months” to shrink.

Now it’s November (almost 4 months later) and they’re still swollen, around grade 2–3. No fever, no sore throat, no pus, no white patches. Just an annoying “fullness / swollen feeling” when I swallow.

Anyone else had tonsils stay swollen for months after strep? How long did it take for yours to go back to normal?
