Freezing the fountain...*SPOILERS*
Okay, so... ... ... ...Is this scene supposed to make sense?
Honestly, the story so far has been innoffensive. Not shakespere or anything, but nothing I'd complain about. I'm not gonna question the logistics of Rogue Evolution, or the fact that "somehow Lysandre returned," which is a joke that's been beaten into the ground by now, but I don't care. I still find it funny.
"YOU! Should be DEAD!"
But this one scene is just stupid and feels like it was written by a group of directionally impaired manatees, and I'll try my best to explain my thoughts like a six-hour Toy Story 4 review. So, I'm gonna explain the scene, and then I'll explain why it doesn't make any sense.
So after talking to Canari about the wereabouts of Ivor's sister, we deduce that she's near a Clauncher fountain. The group does not immediately see her, but notices the sewer systems below the fountain, but they need to find a way to stop the flow of water below the fountain that's gushing into a pool submerging the entrance to the sewers.
So, in order to do that, Emma asks you to freeze the fountain with a Pokemon that knows Ice Beam (or Blizzard. That works too) to freeze the fountain solid, which stops the water below from gushing out, thus allowing your party a safe entrance into the sewers.
...
WHAT!?!
What is happening right now!? What is going on with this script!? Who wrote this!?
How does freezing the fountain stop the water in the other pipes from flowing!? If anything, this might actually flood the pool even more because now you've stopped flow to one point in the system, causing more pressure in the other pipes that would result in faster, more aggressive water flow.
And I swear in the name of Arceus if you say "Oh, well they probably froze the fountain so bad that it froze the other pipes too!" then I will smack your Furfrou with a newspaper. Your Pokemon aimed directly at the fountain. Do you understand how cold it would have to have been to freeze so hard just by aiming at the fountain that the rest of the pipes would freeze as well. And, you know what? Even if we generously assume Blizzard would be that powerful, maybe even Freeze Dry, since remember, Freeze Dry is super effective against water, are we really going to entertain the idea that a simple Ice Beam would freeze over the fountain that hard.
"Oh, come on, dude! It's a world where people enslave animals that shoot fire and lighting out of their body and make them fight each other! Why does this have to make sense? Gyuck!"
Yes, you are right that this world has different rules than the real world, but that doesn't mean it should be free of all logic. You can still make clever scenarios that run logically using the powers and rules of the universe. Being able to freeze a fountain to lower the water flowing from other pipes is not a rule within the universe. What they COULD have done was freeze a wall of ice in front of the direct path leading into the pool. That might have worked logically, but freezing a fountain to stop water flowing through other pipes? Absolutely not.
This game is full of bologna.
(Note: This is just a GamingMagic13 parody. Don't take it too seriously.)
