What are your thoughts on the "date them til you hate them" method?

I used to end my relationships at the first sign of disrespect and once the pain had settled there were a lot of what ifs that kept me hung up on this person until I met a new person. In my last relationship, however, I went back several times and got betrayed over and over again to the point where I was disgusted with him. I had emotionally checked out and he ended things eventually when he knew whay was coming.

After a few months we became friendly again but every time he texts me feels like a chore. The thought of us having been intimate makes me cringe. And I can truly say there's nothing this man could do to get me to have feelings for him again.

My current relationship is also showing signs of toxicity and my nervous system is telling me to leave again. But I don't think I'm ready because the last time we ended things I was miserable for two months until we got back together. I am already noticing how the way I look at him has changed and I am wondering whether to do the "date them til you hate them" again.

But Im curious. Does this method really work or does it slowly erode your self worth and make you numb to love again? What are your thoughts/experiences with this method?
