I think my mum might be lying about how much pip I receive
For context, I've been getting pip for a lot of years now, my money would always go into my mums account and for the first couple of years I didn't even see my pip, when I got older I asked for it and she said that was okay, she said I get £280 but she would give me £200 and keep £80 for my "keep" for the house, I said this was okay
My mum has a house on housing benefits and my dad has a flat on housing benefits, and they have both been living in that flat for nearly 3 years now, so I'm in the house by myself, I pay for gas, electric, the food, the 2 cats and just other things that may need paid for and give her the £80 from my pip
My friend recently started dating this guy who also gets pip, we both are autistic, and he told me he gets about £600 on his pip which i was really surprised by, because he has talked to the people from pip on the phone and his money goes right into his bank, while I have never talked to a pip person or had to do any reviews or anything and my pip goes to my mums bank because she has told me that she told them that I "can't handle my money"
This is where i started to get confused because from pips pov, I dont have the capacity to talk to them and I can't even handle my own money yet I only get £280, but my friends bf can have full conversations with pip and handle his own money yet he gets basically double what I get??? Where not even that different when it comes to specific needs either (both of us can work, travel, talk to ppl, clean our self's, the whole shibang)
So now my friends want me to ring the number for pip and ask them how much I get, but I'm scared incase they are like "how are you talking to us rn if you never talked to us before" and lower the money I'm getting (i don't know if that's how it works)
I would also like to ask them if it was possible to have it go into my bank, cus my mum doesn't always give me my pip or she takes long to give me it
I do work full time (35 hours) and I get £140 UC every month, which I know is a good amount and I'm not trying to be selfish for taking this off my mum, but I want to start saving up to get a mortgage on a house in the next couple of years, and more money will obviously help, and outside of my pip my mum and dad ask me for money all the time, and I dont want to say no because they have a history of emotionally and physically fighting when they are broke and I dont want to be the reason they are doing that so I get scared/anxious and give them whatever amount they need, I get my work payment monthly and I'm sitting here almost broke cus my family owe me a couple hundred and probably over the years owe me a couple grand
What should I do? Any advice?
