Feeling guilty about gifted money

not sure where else to ask this so trying here...

For the past 6 weeks been a furloughed federal employee struggling without a paycheck as couldn’t legally get second job or unemployment when I live, just me and couldn’t pay mortgage/bills/food. A good friends‘ parents with money gave me a check for 1k saying they were in a position to help please accept it. i feel terrible about it and weird I’ve never been given money before or asked for anything and that’s more than I’d even make in a week if I was getting a paycheck.

thoughts or opinions please?! Im freaking out and feel like I did something wrong ahhhhh
