Marriage Between Kukreti and Kukrety

I Have a boyfriend whose a Rajput Kukrety we are not closely related but since we share the same surname people say Kukreti and Kukrety cannot marry , So I wanted to ask if this is True because I am Brahmin Kukreti and He is Rajput Kukrety half , his Mom is from another state But dad is a Kukrety. We truly love eachother and we cannot leave eachother.
