Girlfriend took a 180 is this normal?

Just had a vasectomy done yesterday. A day I thought would be full of joy was the complete opposite...full of wet tears and sadness from her. We are early 30s. She knew I never wanted kids but for some reason me getting the snip "makes it realer than before" We've been together for 5 years and this kinda sucks. I guess it kinda confirms she was kind of fence sitting on the whole child free idea this whole time or are these emotions normal? Anyone else experience something like this?
