Slugs upside down can turn back the right way up, I hope?

Saw a small slug, perhaps 2 inches long, on a well-trodden concrete path. Used a leaf to pick it up and then set the leaf down in vegetation. I forgot to check, before leaving, whether the slug was upside down.

I hope a small slug can turn back up? Feeling a bit bad.
