What kind of police units do you think GTA 6 will have?
I'm really curious about how deep the law enforcement system will be in GTA 6.
Since the game is inspired by Florida (and partly Miami), it would be amazing if Rockstar added more specialized police units, not just the classic patrol officers.
Here are some units I’d love to see in GTA 6
-
Highway Patrol Unit – High-speed interceptors, similar to real-life Florida/LA units
-
Traffic Enforcement – Officers focused on speeding, DUIs, reckless driving
-
Marine Patrol – Boat cops patrolling Vice City’s coasts and canals
-
Air Support Unit – Smarter, more realistic police helicopters
-
SWAT / Special Response Team (SRT) – With better tactics, breaching, hostage scenarios
-
Detectives – Responding to serious crimes, interrogations, investigation mechanics
-
K9 Unit – Dogs for tracking, drug searches, etc.
-
Park Rangers / Wildlife Officers – Because Leonida is full of swamps, wildlife, and rural areas
-
County Sheriff – Separate from city police, like in real life Florida
-
Undercover Units – Unmarked vehicles doing sting operations
One thing I really miss from GTA IV is how Rockstar added cops who were actually part of the world.
You could see officers walking around, patrolling, chatting, arresting civilians, or responding to street fights.
They even had different body types, some were overweight, some were mid, and it made Liberty City feel alive.
In GTA V, we lost that completely.
You basically only see police at the airport or inside/in front of the police stations, and their only interaction with civilians is shooting them if something goes wrong.
It would be amazing if GTA 6 brought back that dynamic, world-embedded police presence, but even more advanced.
And honestly, seeing how deep Rockstar went with micro-details in the GTA 6 trailer, I feel like this is finally possible.
They dedicated a lot of screen time to police scenes, chases, arrests, and even the way officers move and react. That alone makes me think law enforcement will be a bigger part of the world this time.
Plus, after Rockstar officially acquired FiveM, I’ve been expecting them to improve the game from a role-play perspective too.
If they’re aware of how huge the RP community is especially police RP part of it, then they have to expand the police system.
I really hope they add new mechanics, more AI behaviors, and overall a deeper law-enforcement presence
