Health OCD combined with trying to get a diagnosis
Hi all! I'm trying to get some answers for symptoms I'm experiencing. The exact issues aren't super important necessarily, but I was just wondering if anyone has experienced health anxiety/OCD-type symptoms that were resolved with medication, and what they found most effective.
I'm 23 F/NB and I have experienced some medical gaslighting in my past, as well as therapy and medication for anxiety and depression. Some of my symptoms overlap with OCD and rumination, which is why I'm concerned that my anxiety is making them worse or more obvious than to a "normal" person. I know some of them aren't, but I'm worried that I'm basically making myself "worse" or feeling more sick because I've convinced myself.
Right now, I'm lucky enough to have doctors that are advocating for more testing rather than less, and I am receiving treatment for chronic anemia. While my doctors are looking for more answers in my body, I'd like to also look at some answers in my brain. I know women with chronic illnesses are ignored and are diagnosed with anxiety when it's something deeper, and I just hope I'm not doing that to myself before my doctor's get the chance.
TLDR: I'm sick, but not sure with what. Should I still self-advocate for psych meds?
