Hitching, and dropped/delayed inputs, have recently become a problem on one (of two) PCs.
Basically, I've notice a lot lately over the last couple of months that my online multiplayer games have been having issues where I press a button to do something, and it either ignores the input, or it takes 1-3 full seconds for the action to take place. There's also been a lot of times where the picture just hitches, like dropped frames, but again this only occurs in online games.
Some FAQ style clarifications.
-
It's an Ethernet connection, not Wifi.
-
Windows 10, so only PC updates lately have been security related.
-
Only major changes to my PC that have occurred in the last few weeks have been driver updates for my GPU and CPU (had to update to play Outer Worlds 2 optimally).
-
Tried multiple internet speed tests, all of them are saying my speeds and ping are perfect.
-
Made sure everything was plugged in securely, ie ethernet cable wasn't partway pull out.

Problem seems to come and go, it was happening when I started to make this post 10 minutes ago, but it's happening right this second.
-
It's only occurring in one device, my partner and I are both playing online games on gaming PCs at the same time, sometimes it's even the same game, and it's only my PC experiencing these issues.

Example of input lag, I press a key to switch a character or weapon, it'll play the sound effect of switching but won't switch until after a delay, and will often skip animations when this happens (so I'll press a key to switch weapons, a short pause, and then the weapon is just in my hands with no equipping animation occurring).

Hitching example, basic "I turn the camera and sometimes the FPS will drop from 60 to 0 and back to 60 randomly", usually lasts a full second or two. It's occuring in games I've been playing and running flawlessly for years.

If I switch tabs in say, an in-game store or something, like switching between a "cosmetics" tab and a "in-game currency" tab, it'll switch tabs instantly, but will take a second or two to fully load whats in that tab sometimes.
I'm gonna try to do a clean install of my GPU and CPU drivers, to see if maybe that's the issue (if I don't delete or edit my post in the next 10 minutes, assume it didn't work).
But otherwise, I'm stumped on what to do, I'm very bad with the technical side of computers and I've never experienced a single device having (what seems to be) long term internet problems.
