Competitive FPS games on AMD cards feel bad... 9070xt no good?

Help

I recently upgraded from a 3070 to a 9070XT.

While I definitely see an FPS boost and less stutter in CS2, OW2, and Valorant, I still find myself missing my old GPU at times—aiming just doesn’t feel the same. My monitor is a 27-inch 240Hz OLED with FreeSync.

Mouse movements in-game now feel sluggish or not snappy. I’m extremely sensitive to input delay and low latency; I believe it’s more important to prioritize the PC’s responsiveness to inputs than to chase higher FPS, as long as it’s stable.

Back on CS2 with the 3070, I used the following setup for a dramatic improvement in responsiveness:

The BEST G-SYNC settings are SO EASY and you NEED to try them! *GUIDE* (Freesync & G Sync) - YouTube

NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

  • G-SYNC: ON
  • V-SYNC: ON
  • Low Latency Reflex: ULTRA

In-game Settings:

  • Fullscreen
  • FPS uncapped
  • Vsync OFF
  • Reflex Enabled

With G-SYNC + V-SYNC + Reflex Ultra, the system would automatically cap my FPS to 224—just below my monitor’s refresh rate.

This gave me a night-and-day difference in CS2, Valo, OW2... (Mouse response: it went from muddy to snappy, almost glass-like.)

Since switching to the 9070XT, I’ve tried every combination in AMD’s Adrenalin software, but I haven’t noticed any improvement in feel or performance. “Anti-Lag,” which I assumed would be AMD’s equivalent to NVIDIA’s Reflex Low Latency Ultra, doesn’t seem to make a difference. I’ve toggled Adaptive Sync and FreeSync on and off, but none of it affects input delay or responsiveness. Same goes with various combinations of Vsync on with Feesync on "Auto" vs "On" and nothing it all feels the same. I would go as far as to say Anti Lag just on its own doesnt do anything.

I turn all of my ingame performance overlay info on so that includes FPS, MS (pcs response time), latency for ping, and 1% lows and nothing changes.

Adrenalin also doesn’t automatically cap FPS to 224 ingame like NVIDIA’s setup did with G-SYNC + V-SYNC. That’s a key indicator to me that it’s not working as intended.

For reference, here’s the video that explains the setup I’m trying to replicate—I just haven’t found any solution or equivalent on AMD’s side.

I’m seriously considering selling the 9070XT—which I actually love for everything else—and switching to a 5070Ti, because I miss that snappy, low-latency feel. My match performance has noticeably dropped since the upgrade, despite having more FPS.

Here is a video guide of what I'm referring to... has anyone else had this issue or is it just AMD not being good with its technology like how it sucks at VR and raytracing.

For anyone on Nvidia GPUs and you have a gsync monitor or freesync since its also compatible with nvidia cards.... is to give that video a shot... if you dont see a night and day difference in your mouse responsiveness ill eat my own boogers
