Is there any data on 'real' prices for basket of goods?

I am working on a project involving resource competition and scarcity, and was wondering if there is any data on 'real' prices for things like shelter, food, transportation (I could find crude prices), education etc.

A couple google searches later and I think I might be cooked and will have to do it myself in excel or something. Any good ideas of sources before I go dive into this?
