Wound care ointment - pitbull bite to the face

Hi all, Tuesday night I was bitten in the face pretty seriously, requiring a fantastic ENT to get out of bed to sew me back together. He gave me a tube of mupirocin USP 2% and told me to keep it generously applied until my follow up in three weeks.

Well it’s Friday and I’m out, I have a call in but the doctor has to sign off on the prescription.

I know it’s risky coming to Reddit for this, but do any wound care specialists have advice? Is aquafor a suitable alternative until the prescription shows up at the pharmacy?
