How to organize and protect yourself at an overload culture company?
I am looking for tools and tactics to help keep myself organized. I may have ADHD, I’m definitely neurospicy. The lack of “one source of truth” amid a million spreadsheets at a gigantic company (5k) drives me crazy.
I’m not a fan of the company culture. Despite the messaging to move faster and faster, leadership keeps implementing major changes that severely limit capacity. I’ve become the catch all for everything and overcompensating for lack of people power and direction. Think layoffs of key players, wild goose chases, fire drills, and general attitude of “if you aren’t up at night thinking about it, you aren’t working hard enough”. Exact words from C suite. We have 5 time zones across the teams, so a lot of early mornings and late nights. All the while, the legacy product we are tasked with replacing continues to fail and lose market share and there’s too many cooks in the kitchen to get the meal made. I’m honestly exhausted, as I’m also doing a ton of tactile work to get things over the line as there simply isn’t anyone else to do it.
I am a bit of a people pleaser and while it has made me good at my job (read: anxiety looks like productivity), I’m going to burn out at month 6 and have to work at Costco for the health insurance.
