family asking for "food" scam in blr

has anyone else experienced this kind of scam, also is this a scam or fr. atp this has happened to me twice, once in HSR layout and again today in cunningham road.

basically today in cunningham road, a family of four to five people stopped me and started w "hindi bolte ho? we're from pune, our contractor cheated on us we came from really far, we don't need money, just food." they insisted that they just need help w food bc they're hungry AND NO MONEY. so i was really confused what to do and i got em burger, fries and lotte choco pie. even the last time i got em burger from BK.

but bc this has happened the second time, im kinda conscious now and a bit scared if this is a known scam or they were actually needy people. has like anyone else dealt with something similar in these areas?
