Is it possible to get a BFA in a wheelchair?
I‘m a 19-year-old paraplegic of three years. I was heavily involved in theater before my injury, and continued in high school theater after it. I’d wanted to try to get my degree and work in theater since 12, but gave up the idea of it as a profession post-injury and chose an academic major.
And I hate it. Even involved in student productions, I feel every day like the practical decision was the wrong one. I‘m strongly considering dropping out and auditioning for BFAs as a first-year next fall, but I have no idea whether it’s possible to complete the requirements of an Acting or MT BFA in a chair.
**Finances, alternatives, and Normal Person Reasons Why BFAs Are a Bad Idea Aside**, could this be logistically possible? Has anyone known someone in a chair who’s done it?
