Fey (2025) tries really hard to be scary, but just isn't. (no spoilers)
Just got done watching Fey which was released on Found.TV.
I feel like the film makers wanted it to be some kind of puzzle where you piece it all together instead of having the characters just monologue to a camera. However, it just wasn't scary and it doesn't come together in a satisfying way in the end.
What you end up with is moments that stretch on far too long and then nothing happens. Like a tension building moment where there's no jump scare or anything scary at all. Things that go bump in the night can be scary if the character on screen is scared by them. But Maddie doesn't seem to get scared at all! She might be a little tense to open that door or turn on those lights, but then the movie just cuts to the next day.
I'm not a big fan of analogue horror which this film leans heavily into at the end. It's so analogue that you don't get much of an ending. The >!everyone is still missing !<troupe is great and all, but usually the audience is left with some kind of satisfying ending regardless. Maybe I wasn't smart enough to figure out how everyone and everything fit together.
Over all, this a film that tried really hard to be different, but just didn't work for me in the end.
