"Funny" story about when the husband "gets back in church" when the wife and all the kids have been going the entire time....

Discussion

There is a woman at my church who has three kids. The husband, let's call him Michael , was also a member, but stopped coming about 4-5 years ago now . She continued to come . Got all three of the kids ready- I'm sure (most of these fundie/evangelical dads are very hands- off) and in the car seats, came to church faithfully. And this was when the kids were babies and toddlers. The dad ( Michael ) I'm assuming got to relax at home kid free for hours during Sunday school, Sunday service, Sunday night and midweek service. She also homeschools all the kids. Not my business, but I never understood why she had to drag the babies to nursery while he was at home , on Sundays anyway, they where in nursery playing and eating animal crackers, so they weren't really learning about god. As usual with fundie dads, I'm sure that would have been too "exhausting" for him to keep the baby and toddlers for that many hours. ( If you know, you know πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ)

Anyways, a few months ago Michael started coming back to church "faithfully." Last week and this week the pastor literally stopped the end of the service to announce to everyone how proud he is of Michael. Like I said, not once, but two freaking times. And the second time he had Michael have the "honor" of leading prayer time. Cool, I guess πŸ™„ but made my blood boil...... Nothing complimentary about Michael's wife who was getting the kids, who in the first few years were BABIES and herself ready for years to come to church every service even though her husband wasnt. But it's all "ohhhh Michael we are SO PROUD of you !!!!" πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ

If a woman/wife was "out of church" for that long, they'd never say anything like that if she started coming back so I guess that's my bone to pick. She'd be thought of as NOT a gOdLy wOmaN. πŸ™„πŸ™„ Or she could get out of that "status" into a godly woman status but that would be like 10 times as long as it took "Michael" and she'd have to act just so with all the "correct" ways they've deemed a Christian woman needs to behave - be in submission to her husband, be a martyr to her household and mother duties, dress right, and use all the correct Christianese and blah blah blah. Like this guy is just instantly good and the pastor is proud of him because..... He came back to church. Is he even a good person , good dad, good employee, or a non abusive husband??? It's like the Father and husband is faithful to church ... So that equals YEP!! good guy βœ…βœ…βœ… !!!! Please.

* Yes, I still attend church. It's important to my spouse and I'd rather not go whatsoever - but not a hill I'm ready to die on at this moment in time.
