How can I deal with hate against accounting?

Off-Topic

I dropped out of computer science because I realized that I have no interest in tech or engineering. I switched to accounting but now I have to endure all the obnoxious comments from my old friends who are now finishing up their degrees.

They always say that business/finance/accounting jobs are mostly bullshit. All of the departments in companies, all the tax advisories, all the consultancies, basically every business job you can think of is completely blown out of proportion. Their argument is that you could fire 90% of all the people working in these jobs and nothing would happen. Accounting is an artificial system that is not useful beyond knowing how much money the company has and makes. Nobody really needs auditors, taxes are unnecessarily complicated, management can be done by engineers, same as marketing, HR is useless, engineers can do the hiring and the math heavy finance jobs can also be done by engineers because they are better at maths anyway.

My friends are all working as software engineers now and I cannot really defend myself. They are doing productive work and actively bringing in revenue for a company. Most accountants, managers, controllers, marketing staff, human resources etc. only cost money. We are not doing anything productive for society like a doctor, nurse, engineer, welder etc. does.
