Found an audio recording of the first time I got really drunk
I should start this off by saying I am 25 and have really terrible OCD and it has recently made me very miserable as I reminisce on the past and the kid I used to be. I found an audio recording of the first time I got really drunk at age 19 and it made me really depressed. I don’t know why I was recording but I was hanging out with people and behaving like an idiot. I couldn’t listen to the whole thing because it’s 10 minutes but at every point I skipped to in the recording I heard myself say something embarrassing. At one point I bring up a random historical fact completely out of the blue and my friend, who went to high school with me, said “this is what X did in high school at lunch all the time, he would just say a random fact that didn’t pertain to anything.” Or something like that. He’s always been kind of a dick so that one wasn’t too surprising. At another point in the video I say I’m gonna throw up while I’m holding a trash can and my friend asks me to please not get it on her bed. There’s also a point in the recording where I start talking about Atheism and people get kind of mad or annoyed with me and I actually have a snippet of video of this too that someone recorded on Snapchat and captioned “big brain.” The last thing I listened to was me yelling to someone outside of the room that I had never drank in high school and was able to finish half a bottle of Smirnoff. I don’t know what to do with all this. We tend to romanticize our youth but hearing what I used to be like was really traumatizing. I get I was almost blackout drunk but I have to wonder was I at least somewhat like this sober at this age? Maybe to some of you this doesn’t sound like a big deal but it’s one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever listened to. I should end this on a positive note by saying that I became good friends with everyone in the recording but it’s still just so embarrassing. I keep wanting to delete the audio recording but stop myself by saying maybe I’ll appreciate it when I’m older. Or maybe there’s a snippet of a good memory or interaction hidden in it somewhere. But then again, knowing it’s there and that I can listen to it whenever really bothers me. I probably sound so insane to you guys. Anyways I just needed to get this off my chest.
