Holiday and Occasion Attribute issue

I have several items to which I wanted to add the Diwali or Holi tags. I noticed these came up under Holiday attributes for other listings, but when I went to apply these attributes to items that I have that are ACTUALLY appropriate for Hindu holidays, the holidays don't come up in the list. What the heck? Help?
