how do you manage anxieties when dating?
i do trust that the Lord is in control & i pray for assistance to calm my mind and spirit when i’m a bit turbulent in thought & emotion. i’m usually pretty laid back when getting to know someone, but when i have a crush and feelings or intentions are not clearly communicated, i can get a bit anxious & kinda spiral thinking that they’re just itching to ghost & abandon me at any moment. it’s embarrassing tbh.
i know this isn’t healthy & i would rather not be in a fight with myself mentally & emotionally. if they become less responsive, at first it’ll be easy reminding myself that they’re just busy. but if they break any predictability that i’ve latched onto then that’s when i start spiraling, anticipating to be ghosted & trying to soothe myself that it’s okay if they don’t like me & that they owe me nothing, or just pull away completely & refocus my attention elsewhere purely out of fear of being hurt. i feel like this is pretty self sabotaging tbh. it’s embarrassing and i want it to stop.
i know that transparent communication & reassurance alleviates these feelings in me, but i’m not in the business of forcing myself onto people to do the things that make me feel better, and it’s hard to communicate my feelings if i don’t even know where they actually stand regarding me. how do i manage and, preferably, eradicate this?
