Approaching men only works if you are an attractive woman
I keep seeing online comments from men saying how women should start aplroaching men instead, but I genuinely believe most of them leave out the "attractive' part not to sound superficial. When a woman approaches a man, the reaction she gets often depends a lot on how attractive she is perceived to be. Attractive women usually get attention or interest right away. However, for average or below average looking women, most of the time, the response is indifference or awkwardness. A guy could date one of these women just for easy access to sex and other benefits relationship brings, until a woman he genuinely finds attractive approaches him or the other way around.
I'm not saying this is fair, and I know confidence and personality matter, but given women are still valued by their looks, this whole act of approaching the opposite sex often act as a multiplier in social dynamics, especially in dating. Even if a woman is outgoing or funny, if she's not seen as conventionally attractive, her attempts to approach men can be ignored or brushed off more easily.
I think this is one of those unpopular truths that people don’t want to admit because it feels superficial, but it’s something I’ve observed in real life interactions and online discussions.
