L8 to L7

Been L8 in Tech for past 2,5 yrs. Got to L8 w near 100% chargeability, good basic delivery work and some plus1 work, though not many BD hours. Past year been performing well still, doing some plus1 stuff and exceeding the chargeability targets. Always loving my WLB, hardly ever working at evenings unless it’s stuff I’m passionate about.

Now wondering what it would take to get to L7 and if I’d even like to. Sure would love the hike, but after the promo what would be expected of me then? In addition to keeping performing well in a role whose rate would have be as per the new ML.

But would love some pointers on both: -How to get there, should I try to show some originating initiative? -For promo tag by CAL, would my origination work need to yield results? In terms of new bookings w my name tagged. Or how far will I get w showing an effort. -How would my life change at L7? Apart from the cash.
