External Data Share Breaks on Password Change

We have an affiliate company that we share data with through external data share. All of the shortcuts have now broken twice. Always several days after I (the admin) change my microsoft password.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Can I share from a service principal perspective somehow through the API?
