A hard truth fans dont want to grasp
Everyone is frustrated with our drafts and signings over 2 decades. We go through coaches like Anjali goes through rappers. We have incompetent development staff and scouts. Our owner is garbage beyond belief.
But one thing people forget is that we wanted our team in Sacramento. Players have spoken about Sacramento as a city being last on their list of destinations. We get aged vets trying to stay on the league or rookies desperate to play in the league.
Demarcus spoke on when he came to Sac. He said it was his first time in Cali. He said he expected palm trees and models everywhere. What he saw was farmland. Webber was similar. Both love the fans and Sacramento has grown alot but as far as endorsements and possible career growth, Sacramento is and will always be small market.
From my understanding, Demarcus didnt even live in Sac. He would travel. Closest thing to a big city is SF. So why not go GSW? Imagine making 15 million a year and you pay for bottle service at the Park downtown. These are young rich athletes who also have lives they want to live.
Not saying Virginia Beach would have been better but ask yourself as a 22 yr old athlete, would cow town Sac be where you want to be? Id understand if we had a good organization but we dont. That coupled with the fact that the city offers almost nothing... Its hard to blame signing like Lavine and Demar. Its legit probably they only talent that would come here. We are the Oakland A's of basketball and need to grow talent from the ground up. Build it and talent will come. We are doing the opposite and only getting bottom of the barrel talent. A large truth is that its our city as well as the owners.
