[POSSIBLE SPOILERS] Why are so many Catholics enjoying The Chosen??

I am a catechumen, preparing for a conditional baptism next year. I have had a lot of my Parish and friends talk about the show The Chosen. However, a lot of the stuff on that show seems like it is protestant and goes against a lot of Catholic beliefs.

The writers of the show are evangelical protestants. Mary is portrayed in a protestant way, her spiritual authority and intercession are not shown at all. Peter is made out to not be very significant. It portrays The Church as nothing more than a "group of believers," basically rejects a lot of apostolic authority. The show completely downplays the Sacraments, it seems to be shown to be in a symbolic way which is very protestant. Sola Scriptura absolutely dominates the story Tons of fictional backstories that shift away from the Church and towards personal conversion narratives

Am I missing something, why are so many Catholics enjoying this show? I'm not trying to be rude, maybe I'm having a lot of misunderstandings. It just doesn't feel right and it's hard for me to watch.
