SSC CGL prep is so confusing. How do you even know which resources are “enough”?
I’ve been preparing for SSC CGL for a few months now, and honestly the biggest struggle isn’t even the syllabus — it’s knowing what the right combination of resources is. Every topper says something different, every coaching says their content is the best, and every YouTube video has a new “ultimate strategy.” My current problem is: How do you actually know if the materials you’re using are sufficient? I keep switching resources, and then I waste time re-studying the same topics again and again because one book says X, another says Y, and then someone online says Z. Especially for GK — I’m so confused. Some say use Class 6–10 NCERTs, others say go straight to Lucent, some say stick to PYQs, others say use monthly compilations. It’s overwhelming. Also the question: how much theory vs how much practice? Some people say 70% practice, some say 50–50, some say theory is useless after a point. Right now I’m doing: NCERTs (history + polity)
Previous year questions
One mock every 2–3 days
But I still feel like I’m missing something major.
If anyone has cleared CGL or scored high in Tier I/II, can you share: Your exact resources
How you balanced theory vs practice
What turned out to be wasted effort
Your revision pattern
I’d rather spend the next months doing the right things than doing 100 random things.
