Is there no other option than to break our lease?
Neighbors put on their blender at 6 every morning for 15-30 seconds. I have a late work schedule so I get up later in the morning and this is disrupting my sleep. My health is being affected, as many of you have probably experienced when you don’t get enough sleep.
I first talked to the owner of the building as it’s their job to help with any issues going on in their building. The owner said she can’t tell them what to do EVEN THOUGH the law says quiet hours are from 10 pm to 7 am. The manager takes no responsibility stating I’m the one who signed the lease and implying I have to deal with or live with it. To deal with it, I bought $200 custom made earplugs to block out the noise. I still hear the blender so it doesn’t help. So I went to my neighbors. They told me they need to have the blender for medical reasons. I’ve asked my neighbors if they can blend later which they replied they can’t because of their work schedule. I told them I will buy them a portable blender so they can blend outside of the apartment (like at work or in the car). They said a portable blender is not strong enough. I asked if they can have a blender at work, which they replied no.
I feel like they aren’t even trying. No one is trying. Not my neighbors. Not the owner. I feel like odds are against me because the blender doesn’t go on for a very long time, they need it for medical reasons even though my health is affected by this, my neighbors have been living there for many years and I just moved in so the owner is in favor of my neighbors, and it’s only 1 hr before the quiet hours are over so no one is seeing this as serious.
Is the only option to break the lease if I can? Or stick it out for a year?
