DC Compacts vs Marvel Premier – Which Is Actually Better for Readers?

I’ve been grabbing more collected editions lately and I’m torn between DC’s Compact Comics and Marvel’s Premier Collection, because on paper they’re both “cheaper ways to read big stories” but they feel totally different in practice. DC’s Compacts are like $10, smaller and more book-sized, super easy to toss in a bag and not worry about, which makes them perfect for testing out a story or character without feeling guilty if you later upgrade to a nicer edition. Marvel’s Premier books are around $15 and closer to a normal trade, which is still cheaper than a lot of collections, but it’s just expensive enough that my brain starts doing math like “would I rather have two Marvel Premiers or three DC Compacts?” and sometimes that extra five bucks really does decide which one I pick up. For people who’ve tried both, which format are you actually buying more of, does the smaller size of the Compacts bother you after a while, and does the Premier price point feel worth it or does it sit in that awkward middle ground where you’d rather just pay a bit more for the “proper” trade?
