I searched Reddit and Google but couldn’t find a concrete answer. My SO’s mom is here and I don’t know how best to address her: ‘siz’ mi ‘sen’ mi?

I addressed my elder neighbor with “siz,” ve o cevap verdi sth like, “Siz değil/gerek yok, komşumuz.”

Which I understood to mean: “No need for formalities, we are neighbors.”

I don’t see her often; we rarely talk, if ever.

I haven’t seen my partner’s mother in a year or so and now I’m confused about how to address her. My Turkish is shit, and if it matters, she’s pretty easy going 🧿 and uncovered. I’ve used both siz and sen with her and she hasn’t corrected either.
