Thoughts on if this dynamic is okay
Honestly I’m just interested in if folks think this is okay of my friend to do. One of those “is it insecure to worry about this or is it a lack of respect” things. Here’s the story:
I (28 M) and a friend of mine (28 F) are good friends. In high school we were best friends and she had a big crush on me and I was oblivious. It was completely platonic for me. We lost contact after graduating for 8-9 years and after that time skip after restarting that friendship - of course I’m the one with the massive crush. About a year ago she turns me down but we stay friends.
So I lose 90 pounds. She’s been dating a guy for 8 months. They live together now, it’s real. I’ve never met the guy. But we both know of each other. In this time period, Me and her have gotten dinner 1 on 1, walked around the park 1 on 1 a few times and generally bonded over running but absolutely positively nothing has happened or been said. I’d say the last three months-ish we’ve been snapping back and forth at least every other day. Occasionally there’s borderline flirting but even that is really a stretch.
Recently I drove 2 hours (and basically navigated all over the course with signs) to support her in her first marathon…I didn’t ask but it was implied he didn’t go. And then a few days ago I asked if she’d come over and help me interior design my new apartment when I get it in a week. She’s said yes.
SUPPOSEDLY, he knows all of this and he’s good with it. I asked guys in my friend group if they’d be cool with it and while the vast majority said no I was STUNNED to hear 2 of em say it’s fine. My question to Reddit is, truly, would you all be comfortable with this?? I don’t wanna get shot by the (rightfully upset😅) boyfriend.
