Dunno if this is the right sub to post this but it is stuck in my head.

For context, in Ireland "Hard Lads" are teens who basically act mean and tough, commiting small crimes to show off to their friends.

Anyways eons ago back when I was in secondary school (High school), I often had nose bleeds due to a medical condition, one day my nose was bleeding especially hard so I rushed off to the bathroom and in the stalls were the hard lads who were skipping class to smoke and they notice my bleeding nose, being kind is seen as "soft" to the hard lads normally but despite that they helped me out, they didn't care that it was embarassing to help someone in that kind of culture, assuming someone punched me they said "whoever did this I'll box there fuck'n head in, yeah?" Even though I didn't even know these guys.

I'm just thinking back now cus often times people, me included, reduce people to just a few qualities, at the time I just thought of hard lads as delinquents but nah back when no one would even talk to me these guys stood up for me when they thought someone was bullying me, there will always be kind people in life, the world feels cruel because cruel people rule the world but we should remember that pessimism is just letting emotions get in the way of reality, objectively there will always be good people, there always were good people.

Even in the most extreme case with WW2 Germany people were helping their Jewish neighbors survive by hiding them in their houses despite the danger expecting nothing in return, like seriously, people treat humanity like it's some evil thing but time and time again good people exist despite it all, people treat the actions of those in power as if it was the will of the people, people act like we can't rely on the goodness of mankind, but that's all emotions speaking, objectively if you look all through history there were kind people who did good even when good was punished.

Obviously helping out someone who's nose is bleeding is much smaller than all this but it goes to show that people who put others first arn't just pages from history books, they are living breathing people and not just some exception to the rule, they were delinquents who helped me out, if delinquents can be kind then obviously there are a lot of average people who are kind, it is time to take off our little emo glasses and see the world for how beautiful it actually is, to see people for how wonderful they are.

When I look in the mirror, I'm like, that guy is a fat n ugly weirdo loser, but I just started work recently and literally no one judges me for my appearance or social awkwardness, to them it's just how I am, most people don't reduce me to what I hate about myself, people are so fucking lovely and wonderful. Seeing how no one judges me for all this, suddenly it doesn't seem to matter as much, it's like so what I am fat and ugly? All that only matters for dating so I shouldn't treat myself like I am horrible for being like this cus I wouldn't judge someone else for being like this and no one judges me.

People are just so kind to me, it is honestly stupid how much I used to hate myself like good god no one gives a shit if you are fat or ugly, all that does is make people less likely to want to date you, that's it, that's all, being fat and ugly isn't as much of a big deal as I thought, not at all, it's fine, most people are kind, so when someone is an asshole about it their opinions don't really mean too much cus plenty more people don't care that I am ugly and care regardless.

I love people, the average people you meet in daily life, they are so kind to each other, kind to people they don't know, it is so easy to get full of negativity from the news and all that but like seriously reality isn't what people imagine it to be, I am so glad I climbed out of my mothers basement and actually touched grass cus the world is so much kinder than it feels when you live like a goblin in a dark n dank cave with only a computer screen. Like damn people are just wonderful, I love them. I had no motivation or anything all my life, assuming I am destined to be a loser failure, but it's all baby steps y'know? Like I just keep moving foreward through the failure and embarassment, people arn't waiting for me to fail. Unlike what I deluded myself into thinking, humanity is great actually and when I put in the effort people actually extend a hand to help which makes me want to help others, cus that is human nature, we are a social animal, we are kind to each other, it is literally how we are neurologically programmed, it is in our DnA to be kind, people are good to each other and assholes are just the exception to the rule

Rant about how human beings are wonderful
