can an eDP connector support both 720p and 1080p?

I have a Thinkpad L470 and it's the 720p TN model and I wanna buy this LCD model: NV140FHM-N46

the problem is it doesn't come with an eDP connector so will my connector from the 720p TN work on that 1080p IPS LCD
