My father received a portfolio statement from Maxula Bourse — could this be a scam?
Hi everyone, My father just received a letter and a portfolio statement from Maxula Bourse (a Tunisian brokerage company). The document says he owns 181 shares of BNA Assurances, worth about 628 TND, plus a small cash balance. They also attached a yearly statement “arrêté au 31/12/2024” and asked for updated documents (KYC).
Here’s the issue: My father says he has no memory of ever buying shares or opening an account with Maxula. We’re confused and a bit worried.
My questions are:
Could this be a scam?
Do Tunisian brokers usually send yearly statements like this?
Did banks in the past automatically open investment accounts without people realizing?
Has anyone seen a similar case with Maxula.
