brakes stopped working and then started again

hi! so i was driving down a relatively steep hill with a curve at the end, and when i got to the bottom my car wasn’t slowing, i hit the brakes multiple times and they weren’t locked or anything i just didn’t slow. it was raining so i thought i might be hydroplaning, but my steering worked fine and i made the turn without needing to over correct. my tire pressure light flashed on then turned off, basically i shoved my car into engine braking (2024 toyota corolla) until i was going slow enough to force it into park in a parking lot. i then tried to drive it back to my apartment and everything was fine, i checked my tire pressure and all was good. im just wondering what could’ve caused this or if i was in fact hydroplaning and my brakes are fine? this has never happened before and there was no weird noises when i hit the brake pedal.
