Really stuck: sold 1st home in divorce, best way to save for next?
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice please. Basically, it's as the title says - I don't own a home anymore as I transferred my 50% share of my first property to my ex-wife, and I don't know the best way to save for my next home.
I can't seem to find any information online anywhere on this type of situation. I assume I don't qualify as a first-time buyer anymore, so that would exclude me from first-time buyer schemes like help-to-buy or lifetime ISAs (which we used first time round). Or do I?
I don't want to put any money into a cash-ISA as I'm maxing out my S&S ISA currently.
Saving that amount of money in a standard savings account would leave me open to having to pay a large amount of tax I assume.
Does this just leave premium bonds? Or am I missing something else on the best way to save in this situation?
Any and all help is really appreciated, I'm really stuck on what to do and have been for a while.
Thanks!
