Airport Hotel vs ....?

First visit to Mexico. We arrive around 11 pm and will need to do baggage, customs, etc. I've read the postings that suggest a hotel/Airbnb away from the airport is just as easy, since there isn't traffic that late. However, we plan to take a bus the next morning (9:30/10) to San Miguel de Allende. That means we aren't spending any real time in CDMX until later in the trip. Does an airport hotel make more sense in this situation....or is there a preferred neighborhood near the North Bus Station?
