A couple months ago my wife and I were out for a walk in the neighborhood and saw a small a large group of cats (around 10), eat food out off a paper plate a homeowner left on their driveway. We see lots of feral/stray cats around this house. We are pretty sure the homeowners just feed them, but don't try to get them fixed. See below.

When we walked by (on the other side of the street), half the cats bolted, the other half gave us the side eye and continued eating. One little black cat saw us, meowed to us, and came running across the street to greet us. After a bit of fawning over her, my wife picked the cat up when a big orange also crosses the street and starts hissing at it. After we scare off the orange cat, we continued to walk home. We get around the corner from our house, and a motorcycle driving down the street gets close to us and starts revving his engine and the cat jumps from my wife's arms into the street. Almost getting hit by the motorcyclist, and scampers under a nearby car in a person's side yard on cinderblocks across the street. I try to coax the cat out, but it crawls out of sight. Either into the spider infested car (multiple black widows and tons of webs about 3 feet from my face when knelt down to look under the car), or into their back yard. We wish the cat the best and continue on home.

Rewind to this Wednesday, November 12. I go out solo for a walk and pass by the same house. This time I see the cat by itself sitting on the front porch of the same house. I call out to it and once again, it jumps up and comes running up to me. I pick her up and she starts purring very loudly. I take her home, and my wife is very happy and surprised to see her again. We bathe and feed her, and she spends the night with us. We took her to the vet yesterday and confirmed she has no microchip. So, we got her first round of vaccinations and tested for FIV/FLP (negative for both, yay!). She is set to get spayed in a couple weeks, as well as get microchipped, her last round of vaccines, and basic bloodwork.

Her extremely expressive eyes reminded me of the cat from Trigun, Kuroneko. So, I shortened the name simply to Kuro. She is very talkative, especially at food time. The vet told us that she is pretty skinny and has a bit of a bloated belly, which in strays is a sign of malnourishment. We weighed her yesterday when we got home, and she is about 6 and a half pounds. We are working to fix that part slowly but surely. :-)

The only thing I'm not sure about, is when to properly introduce her to our other cats (all spayed girls). They are currently at the smell each other under the door phase. I was thinking about introducing them face to either Sunday or sometime next week. She isn't fixed yet, but I don't what, if any effect that will have on her demeaner since all the other cats are female. The only thing I'm concerned about is spraying. Growing up I have seen female cats that get upset spray.

Should I wait until after she is recovered from her spay surgery to introduce her to the others, or should I introduce her, then do the surgery, then temporarily isolate her again?
