My idea of attractiveness has changed so much. Anyone else?

Discussion

Maybe it’s normal for kids to have completely unrealistic standards of what “attractive” is. I know I did. Lately I’ve been rewatching some 90s movies, and I keep catching myself being really drawn to actresses I once wrote off as average, or even below average when I was younger.

Tonight I’m watching an old Susan Sarandon movie, and I’m certain that 20 years ago I would’ve said there was nothing attractive about her. I probably just perceived her as old. But seeing her now in something from the early 90s, and wow, she’s stunning.

Same for Liv Tyler. Stunning in her 90s roles, but I sure didn’t view her that way back then.

Also Minnie Driver. When I first saw Good Will Hunting, I was maybe 10. I actually remember thinking she wasn’t attractive at all. I rewatched it recently, and my perspective has completely flipped.

It’s interesting noticing how my sense of attractiveness has evolved as I’ve gotten older. I’m glad that my perception has expanded. Still doesn’t making dating easier, but it is so much easier to find something attractive in everyone now compared to when I was a kid.
