Drug price-fixing plaintiffs allege campaign to prey on settlements
Nov 12 (Reuters) - Plaintiffs in a sweeping antitrust case over generic drug pricing have asked a federal judge to intervene against a group of claims recovery firms they say are misleading class members with deceptive marketing tactics.
Lawyers for consumers, employers and insurers told U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe in a court filing, opens new tab on Tuesday that more than a dozen individuals and entities have allegedly misled class members or withheld information in offers to help them secure settlement money in exchange for part of their payouts.
Settlements worth hundreds of millions of dollars are pending in the litigation, but the process for class members to claim part of the recovery has not yet begun.
“These solicitations are rife with false and misleading statements,” said Roberta Liebenberg, a lead attorney for the consumers and other so-called end payer plaintiffs, in a court filing. Class members will be able to file claims for free once the process begins, she told the court.
