Gift for new neighbours

I want to start by saying Im strongly against becoming buddies with neighbours, I like my privacy very much. But I just settled on a house in a very established and quiet area and I’m having a fair bit of work done on the house before I move in.

I want to put a small note in the neighbours mails boxes to preemptively apologise for any disturbance and I’m wondering if a small gift, like cookies or chocolate would be a nice addition to the note or is it overkill? Or is there another nice option small enough to fit in a mail box?
