Neighborhoods Other Than Miraflores for 2-4 Weeks?

First, in advance, I know these posts can sometimes come off as annoying, so I totally apologize in advance. I’ve just never been to Lima and want to be sure I don’t make a big mistake.

I have a 2-4 week trip coming up, exact dates are still up in the air, and am looking for a place to stay. Knowing just what I’ve been able to find online, I would have chosen Miraflores, but it looks like prices are insane at the end of this month in Miraflores due to Libertadores.

I’m finding what look to be a lot of good more reasonably priced options just north of Miraflores. Google maps says the area is called Lince / San Isidro. Is that fine for a few weeks? A lot of listings on Airbnb look to be in newer high-rises.

I’ve also looked at some spots in Barranco, but just going by the map, it looks like a bit of a hike to go elsewhere and I think I’d feel a little isolated having to get cars to get anywhere from there.

Basically I just don’t want to make the mistake of booking a spot that I won’t feel great walking around at night, and want to be able to walk to basic shops / restaurants, etc. (or should I just splurge for Miraflores?)

And yes, I honestly eyeroll at this point when people ask this about Mexico City, where I am most of the time, but I just haven’t been to Lima before and don’t want to mess up my accommodation.
