FIP Survivor, possible hip dysplasia: healthy coat or not?

  • My girl is a 1.5 yro American shorthair who survived FIP and has been doing great lately. However, we have heavy suspicions of her having hip dysplasia. Her symptoms are as follows: bunny hop run, pain when pushed on hips, and unwillingness to jump. Despite her symptoms she is still very playful, and we are planning to get her a checkup and X ray soon.

  • Main issue: My concern for right now is that we're not sure if she is grooming herself properly. She grooms at her chest area a lot and sometimes her tail. I have seen her groom her back before but I don't catch her doing it often. Because of this, I was wondering if her coat looks healthy/normal or if it's a case of "staring coat". Any advice would be appreciated! (Additionally, she has a sister who has not contracted FIP and has good mobility. She grooms often and her coat is very healthy, shiny, and flat, unlike her sisters - which is my main cause of concern. However, we do have another pair of litter mates (5 months old) who are the exact same way: one smooth, one shaggy. Both have GREAT mobility.)

  • TLDR: I am concerned about my cat with mobility issues' coats' health. Please let me know if it looks normal or not.
