I'm new to Marvel Rivals, any tips?

I've always been a big fan of marvel, granted not like a super fan, so when i saw that gambit and rogue were coming to marvel rivals i wanted to start playing bc i adore them. but with online multiplayer games i worry about upsetting teammates while i learn how to play. is there a way to minimize annoying others? certain game modes? i really don't know anything about playing rivals, but i want to learn.
