Help regarding Salary Expectation

Hello everyone, currently working as a discretionary trader (manual+algo for execution of strategies) in one of the top prop trading firms in India (not a primarily quant trading firm). I have nearly 8 years of workex in this firm. I have been planning to shift to a quant trading firm bcoz I feel I have learnt a lot at my current organization and feel saturated knowledge wise. I am getting a role in a relatively new quant trading firm where my role would be as a quant trader, managing the models and taking discretionary calls to improve the performance of the models in case any such situation arises. Also developing and building new strategies with the help of tech team in the firm. I have a few questions, it would be really helpful if someone can:

1. Do other quant firms have such discretionary desks, is it common?? What expectations can I have from such a role, growth and learning wise??
2. What is a fair salary I should expect in terms of fixed + variable.
