DHEA levels of 2325.

Hello,

I am a 20F, about 5’9 and within normal limits of weight. I have been diagnosed with Acanthosis Nigricans (behind the neck, severe under the arms, and other areas) at the age of 13, and have been dealing with irregular menstrual cycles, excessive hair growth on face and body, easy weight gain, flaky skin (eczema), etc.

My menstrual cycles are really weird, I might get them for a couple of months then skip a couple of months, or I might get it one month then skip a couple of months. Back in December of 2024, I saw my PCP regarding this and she put me on birth control to regulate my cycle. The original dosage she put me on did not work, and I still wasn’t getting my periods. Then, she switched me to a higher dosage which definitely worked but it caused excessive weight gain and insane mood swings.

Slowly, I got off the birth control and on October 29th I saw a gynecologist because obviously according to the symptoms my guess was just PCOS. I have a lot of friends with PCOS and they have similar symptoms. My gynecologist ordered some hormonal blood work and this is how it came out:

FSH: 5.6 LH: 23.3 Hemoglobin: 5.5 Testosterone: 70 ng/dL Free Testosterone: 6.2 pg/mL HIGH Prolactin: 16.9 Estradiol: 34.4 Progesterone: 0.6 DHEA, serum: 1718 ng/dL HIGH

My gynecologist left a comment that she’d like me to repeat my DHEA test at the next appointment. However, I wanted to get it done prior to my follow-up so I know my result. Therefore, I got it redone and it just got resulted at 2325 ng/dL HIGH. My vaginal sonogram and f/u appt is schedule this Monday (November 17th). However, I’ve been doing so much research about this and I am psyching myself out. Although I shouldn’t be worrying myself over what google and all these different websites are saying, I can’t help but worry because everywhere I see it’s spitting out that such high levels are a strong sign of an adrenal tumor. I have no family history of cancer, I take good care of myself, and am very young.

Although I have a f/u appt coming soon, I’m really worried so I was hoping I could get some possible answers from here. Let me know what you guys think about this situation. Thank you!
