So Job searching again

So I posted a few weeks ago that I was facing a hearing at work and they did it, pulled the trigger and fired me after 8 years. Not sure what's worse that they were holding on to mistakes I made 5 years ago or that they had someone replace me a week later.

I get there is a work/life balance but the last 2 years have been very hard that I couldn't just separate both, the fact that when my Mother was in a life or death situation and they're like well 'we hope she gets better, let us know when you're going to be back at work' really upset me...

To be honest I'd lost motivation in the job after 8 years I felt despite doing good work that I was just going through the motions and now I'm job searching and I'm feeling the stress as I have to look after my family and so far all its is rejections or interviews and no thanks or no reply...not sure what to do.
