Looking to become a Belizean

Canadian here. How do you feel about immigrants? I'm a professional construction painter who is looking to potentially move to Belize and hopefully work locally. Of course, I plan to visit first and save money to survive for a couple years so I can responsibly deal with the steps/costs required if my idea is reasonable.

From what I understand, I would need a sponsorship from an employer to even be allowed to work locally. Would I be able to purchase property or start my own painting business?

Do native Belizeans want other people coming over?
